Spitfire Lyra
Specifications and Details

We are currently load testing all our Lyra's again and will post the specs shortly!

The Spitfire Lyra is rolled from heavy wall one inch diameter steel tubing. It can be rolled to almost any diameter, from 29 inches to as large as 76 inches. The measurement of a lyra specifies the inside diameter, so a 36 inch lyra will measure 38 inches on the outside. Once rolled, it is sanded, welded and the tabs are attached to your specifications. Usually with a two tab lyra, the tabs span about 21 inches apart on center, leaving plenty of room to work above the hoop as well. The diameter of the tab’s center hole is 7/8 inch, which easily accommodates a carabiner, shackle, or rope.

We recommend taping the carabiner to avoid scratching. If you order it bare, it is sprayed with a dark metallic protective coat. If you want it wrapped, it is then wrapped in Black Cotton tape.  A 36 inch lyra weighs about 11 lbs.

We also sell rolls of the Black Cotton Athletic tape, at $ 5 a roll. For a 36 inch lyra you will need 2 rolls.

The standard fabrication time for a custom Lyra is about ten days. For those who need their lyra immediately, we can fabricate and ship a lyra within two days for a rush charge of $100. There are very rarely extra lyra’s in the shop, as each one is custom fabricated to your specifications.

Your Lyra options are kind of metal, inside diameter, wrapped or bare metal, and number of tabs. One way to figure the size you need is to sit on a chair and measure the distance between your butt and the top of your head and add two inches. The smaller the lyra, the more flexible you need to be to work within the apparatus.

Metal Options:

Regular Steel Tubing- Most cost effective lyra. Most popular and great to work on.

Solid Cold Roll Steel - Heavier lyra for those who like that. Currently Unavailable.

Stainless Steel- bright silver finish, will never rust even out doors, and does not come wrapped. Stainless tubing is very expensive, which is reflected in the price of the Lyra.

Solid Aluminum- Bright finish, corrosion resistant and comparatively lighter weight. Email us for availability!
